- Anticipating a new member! New material coming!
We're auditioning four bass players this coming Saturday. Getting excited!
If things work out favorably, then we can start thinking about the video shoot we had to shelve earlier this summer.
It's taken a while, but the alternate mix of the Anything for Rock & Roll disc is now approaching the mastering stage. Big thanks to Dave @ musicboxx!
We also have about 9 new songs in the works which will become two new EP's - bringing our total releases to 4! :)
- Local Rock&Roll: Q&A with Octobre’s Ending
- By Teresa Di Matteo // Music
With so many up-and-coming bands racing to sign with a label and moving faster than the speed of light, it is refreshing to see a local band thrive as well as they have while taking it easy and enjoying the journey. Toronto’s Octobre’s Ending is certainly a well-polished gem, having been in the biz for quite some time. Close your eyes while listening to one of their tracks and you might think you’re listening to a classic rock, greatest hits album. Thankfully, their sound is just as refreshing as when they first assembled on their journey towards the rock and roll lifestyle. [Read More...]
- Engage!
After a number of Murphy's Law type diversions, the band is picking up the ball and coming out swinging to take on the exciting months ahead!
Gigs are being booked, the second album is just about ready to be released, and we're returning with our brand new, ultra talented, and even house trained bass player Mark Zarich who is a welcome addition to the family (and an ultra decent nice guy to boot)!
Show dates and more awesome stuff on the way! Check back frequently for more updates!
- What The!?!?! You never know what you're going to get!
Remember that fantastic imminent EP that the band was busily working on? Get this...
What started off as a quick release featuring a few new songs has turned in to a bona-fide full-length; Seven songs to be exact.
Good news is that its all recorded and currently having a few overdubs glued on before hurtling itself full-force into mixing mode. Everyone who has heard bits of what's going on in this recording has gotten very excited. :) Who knew these unassuming OE jokers would turn into the real deal so quickly? It's called a good old fashioned obsession folks!
This album has been an adventure though... Between having Moe Berg out with the intent of producing the disk (Alas the stars didn't align, but he did take time to do the arrangement for "Angels in the Street") and OE's studio skirmishes, it's been a real slice of Rawk & Roll lifestyle!
Other flashes:
- 20+ killer new songs in the works. What's that - three more albums worth? ;)
- G gets heat stroke jumping around at a T.O. Queen Street festival gig during 40 degree weather
- Something about getting knocked up - we'd tell you but we'd have to kill you. ;)
- There is a lo-fi mystery noise album lurking in the undergrowth; Spazzy live improvisation by an alter-ego nemesis of OE called "Featherhead" which features Queen Chaos on drums/chants, JQ on keys/rumblings and G on Screeches/Cacophony. Available exclusively to anyone in our "family"!
- Octobre's Ending Interview: Guitar Justice Magazine
- There's a fantastic new Indie Music Magazine online called Guitar Justice. OE is featured in their fourth issue (July 2011). If you haven't checked out this magazine, do yourself a favor and read an issue or two of this quality publication!
Excerpt: "We hang out, tell jokes, pick on each other and go out for Drinks & food after. I guess it's the mini version of the live house party. When we're playing, somebody is often egging someone else on; sometimes it's gotten super silly where you have to dodge things being thrown around."
- New releases in the works!
As many of you already know from attending our shows, Octobre's Ending has been a foursome since guitarist Jesse "lab rat" Breakspear has moved onto other interesting projects... This change in chemistry has spawned a harder, more modern sound for the band. Not to worry though... many fine pop singles are still being deviously crafted in the workshop as usual!
As a matter of fact, OE has a large stack of new material being refined and rehearsed which will result in a series of EP's coming soon! The first set of songs are ready for studio time. Exciting doesn't begin to cover it! Look for some upcoming contests around these disks - you could help in their creation!
- For your listening pleasure...
Remember that our debut album is available as a beautiful limited edition print at shows... fully signed by the OE family of degenerates if you like. Yes, even Johnny Jailbait will sign it in his own special way!
And for those of you that just can't peel yourselves away from Survivor in the womb-like confines of your basement, we accommodate your need for Rock&Roll ecstasy with equally potent downloadable versions available at all the usual places such as Itunes, CDbaby, Amazon, and several other distributors. There are even some fancy direct link thingys on this here site. Guaranteed to bring an extra sparkle to your daily routines!
- OE signs licensing deal with Metal Queen Management!
Just a couple of months ago Octobre's Ending had the great pleasure of striking up a licensing deal with Metal Queen Management for our debut disk "Check Your Ego At The Door". This means that quite possibly you may see some of our great tunes show up in some unexpected places! A big shout out to Betty!
- Official Website is Live!
If you're reading this you're enjoying our brand spanking new official OE site! Still lots of stuff to add, but the basics are here with lots more to come!
- Music Review – Check Your Ego at the Door (Octobre’s Ending)
- Dark, semi-sinister vocals creep in from the start. From flat and feverish on “Hung Up” to a soft husky tone on “You Mess Me Up”, lead Elaine “Queen Chaos” Shields seems driven to hit every note with passion and purpose. However, the music is equally important, catching up quickly with a speed that swiftly outweighs the lyrics. Drawing from the grungy underground rock of the nineties, Check Your Ego at the Door is an off-key version of Nirvana’s sophomore hit, Nevermind. In fact, with its shifting dynamics, Octobre’s Ending as a band sound somewhat like Nirvana , perhaps if Courtney Love replaced Kurt on vocals. [Read More...]
